To ALL Ambulance Professionals,

It has been brought to the attention of EMSPA (NSW) Inc. that the HSU has released a statement that during their next award submission to the Industrial Relations Commission (IRC), any increase in wages for Ambulance Professionals should be awarded to HSU members only.

Any award negotiated at the IRC is applicable to ALL workers under it, regardless of their membership status to any organization – union or otherwise. This tactic has been attempted in previous years by the HSU and other unions and has been dismissed by the IRC as it breaches several sections of the Industrial Relations Act 1996 (see attached), in addition to neglecting the obligations of an organization trusted to represent a profession. This statement by the HSU is erroneous and can only be seen as an attempt by the union to mislead Ambulance Professionals into union membership.

EMSPA (NSW) Inc., as a body OF Ambulance Professionals working FOR Ambulance Professionals, would like to inform members and non members alike that the action threatened by the HSU amounts to workplace bullying and victimization of non-union members. If any member feels that they have suffered coercion from anyone acting on behalf of the HSU based on this or other evidence, please contact EMSPA (NSW) Inc. Executives so that appropriate action can be taken.

In addition, EMSPA (NSW) Inc. members have started an Award Committee aimed at reviewing the award on behalf of EMSPA (NSW) Inc. members and non-members alike. EMSPA (NSW) Inc. wishes to further the profession of pre-hospital care providers regardless of their membership status - a win for one is a win for all. If you would like further information, or would like to take part in the Award Committee please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . EMSPA (NSW) Inc. seeks a united, unfractionalised workforce dedicated to the profession and people of NSW.

“The apolitical approach to Ambulance representation goes from strength to strength with the addition of Victoria today.

The EMSPA NSW Inc. would like to congratulate EMSPA VIC Inc. who have officially launched today! We look forward to a united Association between the three states as we continue to grow the EMSPA name and unite Ambulance Employees across Australia.”

Newspaper headlines of 'Everyday heroes pay the ultimate price when the siren stops', 'Paramedics stressed, undervalued and overworked', 'Stressed and suicidal worker told to 'cowboy up'', 'Bullying remains in Ambulance Service', 'Anguish starts after the siren stops' and 'Bullies in the office' have spread across the state today following the release of the GPSC2 Final Report on the Review of the Inquiry into the management and operations of the Ambulance Service of NSW.

EMSPA would like to take this opportunity to remind all members, non-members, friends and family of Ambulance Professionals that the EMSPA Chaplain is available at all times and encourages all to build and maintain a support network for what can be a stressful and demanding job.
